Humility in a bottle
Our wines, just like in the Roman Empire are made in clay amphorae. What a great tribute to the forefathers of the world viticulture to use their language, Latin, as the name brand for our wines. This is how, inquiring about the origin of the Spanish name TINAJA, our brand name was born: TINÁCULA (small clay amphora in Latin)
The interior design of the winery, just like the brand, is also unique with dozens of oil paintings from Josefina in every corner, art works representing all the products and wine making scenes that, together with the amphorae, make the space look like an art gallery.
Some of those paintings have been used in the labels and packaging of our wines, giving each wine a distinctive character. Art work both inside and outside.

The origin
It all started there with a small clay amphora. From two of those small 300 years old amphorae owned by the family arose our logo designed by a potter to avoid any confusion between the clay jars and others of the same kind.
In those clay jars we started to mold our natural wines 50 years after their last making by our great grandfathers.
The first production was made in 2015 in the house garage, only 100 liters of our singular plot “El Santillo” harvested, feet crushed and fermented in one of the two clay amphorae owned by the family. Our friends, family and wine tasters loved the wine which inspired us to take the initiative to honor our family and recover the natural wine making traditions.
Hand made wines
Until the 50s, all the wineries in the center of Spain were built with clay jars and clay amphorae. Unfortunately, with the emergence of new materials, they all disappeared and nowadays, they are either destroyed or no longer in use.
In Las Calzadas, we decided to bring back to life this homemade and handmade way of wine making, avoiding adding artificial and chemical products to our grape, in the field and in the production in order to produce a wine that conveys this forgotten aroma and taste.
All the grape comes from the old family vineyards that we cultivate ourselves to offer a product in which all the process is controlled: from the vineyard to the table. The production is limited, never more than 25.000 bottles per year to insure the quality in all the products.
